How it works

  2. Wait for the one-time model download (about 56 MB, cached after the first run) while the background is cut out automatically.

Frequently asked questions

No. The cutout itself runs on your device. The one thing that comes from a server is the AI model (about 56 MB, from img.ly's CDN) on your first use - your photo is never part of that request.

The tool runs a real background-removal model in your browser, and that model has to come from somewhere the first time. It's cached after, so later visits skip the download.
