The default, 150 DPI, is sharp enough for screens and most printing. Go higher for large prints, or lower for a smaller file.
No. Each page is rendered to an image locally in your browser - the file is never sent to a server.
The tool tells you it's password-protected and asks you to remove the password in a PDF reader first, rather than failing silently.
